“This disease is not going to conquer me. I made that decision the first time I heard that I had breast cancer.

“I found out that I had Stage 4 breast cancer in March 2021. It all began when I started losing vision in my left eye. By the time I was diagnosed, the cancer had already metastasised through my body. Since then, I’ve had radiotherapy on my head and shoulders and surgery to remove the tumours on my hips and legs.

“For Unite to Fight Cancer last year, my three sisters walked in my name and raised over $9,000. I’m really looking forward to taking part in Walk to Fight Cancer myself this year, and raising even more to support life-saving cancer research at Peter Mac. I really hope you’ll join me!”

The difference you’LL make

In early 2021, at the age of just 19, David was diagnosed with an aggressive form of testicular cancer which had already spread to his abdomen. He then underwent three cycles of chemotherapy at Peter Mac, over nine hard weeks, leaving him utterly exhausted. David was deeply grateful that, thanks to all the research in this area, there was an effective treatment for his cancer.

That same year, David’s girlfriend Olivia and mum Maria got a team of family and friends together – Team Genna – for Unite to Fight Cancer. They raised almost $29,000 between them. This year, for Walk to Fight Cancer, David will be part of that team.
